Mica board is a sheet material made by soaking mica paper (made from natural mica powder) in high-performance resin and pressing it under heat. Mica can usually withstand temperatures of 500-1000 degrees Celsius; mica gaskets are high-temperature insulators that work well up to 800°C for long periods. They have great mechanical strength, heat resistance, and electrical insulation properties, with high electrical resistance and low energy loss. These materials are easy to work with and can be cut or shaped without splitting, cracking, or losing their form.
The most common and versatile forms are thin sheets of mica flakes bonded together with a thermosetting resin. Mica is among the most heat-resistant and durable materials in the electrical insulation field, primarily because its natural structure is layered and inorganic, rendering mica board an outstanding high-temperature insulator.
Beyond its thermal insulating properties, mica boards exhibit excellent dimensional stability (expansion is usually minimal) and superior dielectric strength. Mica board has extremely high heat resistance, good electrical insulation properties, and good mechanical strength properties, both at room temperature and elevated temperatures.
